The dual-core Motorola device, which also happens to be the only dual-core Motorola device on Sprint, has an update coming up that will lock the bootloaders and prevent the flashing of SBF files. While this likely won’t affect the current rooted community, new devices and replacements will likely come with this update preinstalled.
XDA Senior Member Lightsword1942, who was nice enough to tip us off about Motorola’s continued campaign against unlocking bootloaders, has also posted a thread that details the Photon bootloader, and has begun the all too familiar process of making prior unlocking methods work on the bootloader. It’s been determined that when attempting to flash an SBF file to downgrade to an older bootloader in an attempt to make the bootloader unlockable once again, the SBF checks out the ReservedOdm values. If these values do not match up, the SBFfails much in a similar fashion as the Atrix 4G. If these values can be bypassed, it very well may be possible to downgrade these devices and unlock the bootloader once more. For the time being, though, Motorola has everyone stymied.

While campaigns to get Motorola to understand the enthusiast community in past have failed, do not let that stop you from letting them know what you think. If you feel the need to tell Motorola that you should do what you want with your phone, it may be wise to start on theirFacebook and Twitter pages. Don’t forget to use the #unlockmoto hashtag if you do. Hey, it eventually worked for HTC users…kind of.

FYI: So It Begins – Apple’s Victory Affecting HTC’s US Imports

Quote

Posted May 16, 2012 at 5:30 pm by egzthunder1

Sometime in December of last year, the US Court and the ITC (International Trade Commission) made a monumentally bad call by granting Apple a victory—a major one at that—in the so-called “patent wars” that have been raging for the last couple of years between smartphone giants HTC and Apple. Essentially, the victory from Apple involved the ability of a browser to be able to recognize alphanumeric entries in a webpage and link them for other purposes.

One of the most common uses of this functionality is the phone number recognition, where if you select text containing a phone number and tap it, the browser will automatically launch the phone application with the number you are trying to call. It turns out that the judges at the ITC deemed this patent infringement and decided in their infinite wisdom to serve HTC an Exclusion (rather than a Cease and Desist order). This doesn’t completely ban exports, but it makes it somewhat more difficult for HTC. Essentially, this gave HTC a small window of opportunity to find a work around to the parts of Android that are infringing Apple’s IP.
Fast forward to today, and we see that the ban itself is beginning to manifest in the form of investigations done at US Customs. Yes, Customs. Due to the ruling, all imports by HTC are being stopped at the US border prior to entry for indefinite investigation. This morning, I found a thread started by XDA Forum Member ncfastls1, which pointed to an article published by The Verge. Essentially, the brand new HTC One X and EVO 4G LTE that were just launched by Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T are being held at Customs for an indefinite period of time. The reason behind this, at least the official one, is that the devices are being inspected for allegations over patent infringement from the ruling mentioned above.

This has been said in the past in my numerous rants against Apple, but are they so insecure about their own innovation (or lack thereof) that they need to spend considerable funds in court trying to get competitors banned from the market? This is not the first time Apple has pulled something like this, as they have been going after Samsung globally. I am in the world of sales as my real life job and one of the most important things I have learned is that you must ALWAYS sell what you make by pointing out the great points about your own products rather than slinging mud at the competition. If your only strategy for being competitive in a global market is to try and find some petty excuse to bring down your competition over things that, although patented have existed conceptually for ages before you “conceived” the idea, I personally feel sorry for you.

Dear Apple,
Your ENTIRE organization lacks morals and free market competition basics, and as such, you are not worthy of having the glory that you now posses. While you may have revolutionized the world as we know it with very well crafted marketing campaigns and some good ideas, you are far from being a true innovator in the field of… anything. Just think for one second about the LEAPS in technology that you would have accomplished, should you have invested in R&D a quarter of the money you spend into advertising and marketing. Then, you would have something worth portraying as a technological wonder, something that would likely be untouchable by others. Something truly genuine that you can call your own, and at the end of the day you could look at with pride. What you have right now is a bunch of reinvented wheels, most of which don’t do much more than other wheels out there.
Redefining concepts and ideas is not what makes a company great; coming up with new concepts is. HTC and other major OEMS have often been in the vanguard by innovating with their products, adding new features, rethinking, and just putting concepts out there to imagine their possibilities. Your last innovations and only major contributions to the world of mobile technology were the inclusion of capacitive multi-touch gestures and an accelerometer in mobile devices, and these were with the original iPhone back in 2007. For that and only that, I give you credit. All the newer models of virtually every product you sell have been remakes of previous technology—perhaps a little thinner and a little faster, but all in all, minor changes.
It is because of companies like yours that technology is not further today than where it currently is. You are so adamant in protecting something that you didn’t even invent that you are holding back future innovation. The spirit and basic concepts of engineering are completely missing from your business models. Courtesy of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology:
Engineering is the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences gained by experience, study, and practice is applied with judgement to develop ways to utilize economically, the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind.
Notice the importance of the concept that you are no longer following. Engineering practices are used for the betterment of mankind. What have you done for this purpose? Rebrand an existing technology (MP3 players) and sell them for twice the price? Trying to cripple your competitors by claiming that you invented something that was previously invented, when you simply adapted the technology and closed off any other use of this by others? This can be compared to using a Linux kernel (if it weren’t under GPL license), patenting it, and closing it off so that no one else can use it.
Apple, you are simply a disgrace to the world of technology and to engineering in general. I feel ashamed of being called an engineer in a world where your company roams around freely without even following the most basic of the field’s concepts—a world where the law and justice are blind to the fact that your actions are hindering humanity’s advancement. While I understand that there is nothing wrong with making money, there is something very wrong with replacing engineering with greed.

Dear HTC,
We have said this in the past, but please, we beg this of you: Allow us to help you grow and make your products better and smarter through REAL innovation. Our site and communities like ours harbor some of the brightest minds in the world of engineering and computing that this world has ever seen. We are willing to help you. Not because we like what you do (read: stop closing off bootloaders) but because we believe that you still have your core principles intact and are willing to work on things that truly revolutionize and improve technology for the betterment of mankind. Please allow us to help you.
Thank you for reading.

SGS2 or Photon?

plan to buy a new (used) phone soon since my EVO is not satisfying my needs (far too slow, huge downgrade from my last phone, the Atrix). Found an SGS2 for $220 and a Photon for $240. My dad has the Photon and i find the screen to be fine, but i know the SGS2 has an AMOLED screen...and i love them . So which would yall recommend? Probably wont be able to afford either in the super-near future, but my upgrade isnt for another 12 months and i cant wait that long to get a new phone. I use my phone for everything, so i need it to be plenty powerful. I also just found the SGS2 Epic 4G Touch for $300, so i want to know what would be the best choice between the 3 and why you think that. Im not a "noob" when it comes to phones or Android, im just hoping you guys might have some insight on the devices.

(Also, side note... When i do get this new phone, ill have an EVO and the car dock for sale for pretty cheap. EVO is in kinda rough shape. few scratches on the back, and all four corners are a bit rough. Otherwise it works perfect, and the screen is still immaculate. oh, and the H and T emblems on the back cam off somehow? and the C is trying to fall off. Just PM me if youd be interested in the car dock AND the phone, not one or the other unless you want just the dock. PM with what youd be willing to pay and when im ready to sell it ill get back to you.)

I was recently reading how Motorola as a pioneer in mobile devices has the best radios for CDMA. I understand we can't literraly use the radios from Motorola in an HTC or Samsung phone but is it possible to port over anything from the software side of thi ngs to make our radios stronger? Sprint has been really slow recently as I'm sure you all know and I'm just trying to figure out if it can be remedied especially since none of the new 4G LTE phones actually run on 4G LTE....

Benchmark, social networks, couple of games, widgets and tools.

Power off after wipe?? Really???

There has been some discussion about my suggestion that you "power off" your phone during the flashing process. I thought that I would give you a little test to do in order to show you WHY I suggest that.
As you know... our phones all run on a battery. This battery produces approximately 4.0V. Our CPU in our phones uses approximately 1V. The RAM uses approximately 1V. Other non-volatile memory uses approximately 1V.
Now, in order to completely CLEAR non-volatile memory (That is what we are wiping when we flash) we need to lower the voltage going into that memory BELOW 1V or there IS going to be residual left in there. It can't be stopped if you don't power it all the way off. The ARM processor does NOT have a function call to clear the path from RAM/ROM to the CPU like Intel or AMD processors on our laptops/desktops.
So here is what we are going to do. We are going to see how long it takes for the circuit inside of our phones to "bleed off" any residual voltage/current when it is powered down or just unplugged from the charger. Ready?

Plug your phone it to the USB or charger and get your charging LED lit up. Make sure that your "meter" is showing that you are charging along with the LED. Now, unplug the charger/USB and see how long it takes for the charge LED to turn off. What?? About 2 seconds? Yep. Now... THAT is how long it took the circuit to get below 3V. Yep, your LED turns OFF at 3V. And if your phone is still turned on then the VR circuit will NEVER get below the 1V to clear all the electronics in there. Simple test huh?
One thing that I would say most people do not realize. Even though, when you are in Recovery, the CHARGING circuit is "taken out" of the equation, the REST of the phone IS powered on! Even if you unplug your phone from the charger/USB, there is STILL electricity to ALL of the electronics in there. (It is called your battery) That is how it all WORKS!
When you turn off your phone, there are resistors and capacitors in there that are carrying a charge. That charge just doesn't mysteriously go away when you reboot. The reboot process makes SURE that there is voltage and current IN the phone to do all the work you just told it to do.... REBOOT. During reboot the only thing that is shut down is the CHARGING CIRCUIT and DISPLAY so that there isn't an inrush of current from the battery when the CPU, et. al. are recycled. And a so called "Hot Reboot" allows even LESS to be shut down.
The only way to get rid of ALL voltage is to power the phone off and allow the resistors and capacitors to bleed down through the circuit. It takes approximately 2 seconds for the circuit to get below 3V. It takes approximately 10 to 14 seconds for the circuit to get below 1V. It takes 25 to 30 seconds for the voltage in the circuits to reach ZERO.
So you see.... If you do not power down the phone when you wipe... You may NOT be actually achieving a "clean wipe". You might get things scrambled enough that it doesn't "look" the same to the CPU, but it has never become full "clean" until that residual voltage has been allowed to dissipate.
I hope this has helped explain the WHY in powering down during a wipe. As always, if you have any questions or comments PLEASE let me know!

See ya'

Amon Ra - smelkusMOD - v4.2

As you guys may have read on the other Amon Ra to beat all Amon Ra's thread. I wanted autoreboot... Now it's here:

Description
This is an Amon Ra style custom recovery based on drellisdee's (aka getitnowmarketing) source with a few changes added by me.

The "nandroid" script includes code to auto-reboot your phone upon completing a backup, which could be especially useful after a long, compressed backup, but it's never been an option in the UI. I wanted this feature to be included in the backup and restore menus simply for convenience, i.e. restore a nandroid before going to bed so the phone is ready for you in the morning, make a backup while you're mowing the yard so the phone is ready for you when you come inside, etc.

Accordingly, I modified nandroid-mobile.sh to include autoreboot on restore and modified and built a new recovery binary to offer autoreboot in the backup and restore menus. While tinkering with it, I decided to modify the font color and background graphics. Themes and features explained below.
Change Log

v4.2 - Add Roboto font (from CEnnis91)
Reorganize and clarify wipe menu, add Calkulin's Clear Temp (wipe Temp Files in recovery) and Superwipe
Center main recovery screen header and switch to all caps

v4.1 - Added two new choices to the top of the wipe menu:
Combined cache & dalvik wipe
Combined boot, cache, data, system (aka Calkulin's FORMAT ALL) wipe
Changed auto-reboot message from "Rebooting recovery..." to "Rebooting phone..."

v4.0.1 - Fixed symlinks to dump_image and flash_image, which should correct any restore issues from v4.0 (thanks drellisdee)
Modified nandroid-mobile.sh and extracommands.c to allow recovery to handle autoreboot versus the script (thanks drellisdee)

Battery Meter Readings... Don't you believe them!!

OK... here is one more battery related thing from the Olde Pharte Rabble... I hope you like it.

I have been watching a couple of threads from different Forums about how their battery life is ( or isn't ) and I thought that I would kill off a couple of myths.

Myth 1: I calibrate my battery once and I am good.
Truth: You need to calibrate your battery with EACH new ROM that you flash. And, ESPECIALLY with a new Kernel. The battery statistics file is just that... a file. It is a collection of the mAh useage of the battery as reported by the VR/charging circuit on the motherboard. Each ROM/kernel combination may use a different port to read the VR/charger and comparing it to the battery stats file. So, in the BEST case, your combination is using the same port and read settings. Then you have about a 50/50 chance of your battery meter being anywhere near correct.

Myth 2: My battery meter is actually giving me accurate information about my battery.
Truth: Your battery meter is giving you an averaged reading based on use vs. VR/charger report. Again, your meter is getting its' information from the ROM/Kernel combo taking all the information and averaging the changes. So, depending on how many times you have changed ROMs/kernels since you did your last PROPER battery calibration......... well.... You can see how inaccurate your meter can be.

Myth 3: The old "I am losing 10+ % when I turn my phone on!" complaint.
Truth: You aren't losing a darn thing. You are seeing the meter responding to the removal of the charger and the first impulse of energy being read from the VR/charger circuit and being averaged into the meter reading. When you are charging a battery, even when it is full, the VR/charging circuit is "reading" the input and output of the battery and dutifully writing it to the battery stats file. When a Li-ion/polymer battery is "fully charged" it is going to be ABOVE its' rated voltage and mAh capacity. When it is removed from the charging circuit it will go to its' rated mAh capacity for "reads". Oh LOOK! There goes that supposed 10%.

Myth 4: Battery "savers" don't do anything.
Truth: Sorry guys... they DO help. Any program that is running on your phone is taking up energy and CPU clock ticks. ANYTHING! There is NOTHING on your phone that is running for "free". That is impossible. Any "saver" program that shuts down radios ( WiFI, 3G, 4G, Bluetooth, etc. ) is going to stop some power use. Any "saver" that shuts down unneeded background programs IS going drop power use. Those programs are no longer using the CPU. The less the CPU is working... the less the power needs.

Myth 5: Undervolting doesn't help.
Truth: Here again, the power that your phone consumes is based on Ohm's Law. I=V/R Where I = current, V= voltage and R = Resistance. Now, we can't change the resistance in the circuit. But, if we lower the voltage ( within the working capabilities of the circuit ) then we will be also LOWERING the mAh that the circuit needs to run. So, if we are using 900mv into a 50 ohm load ( arbitrary load here for simplicity ) we will be using 19mAh. However, if we drop that voltage to 850mv into the same load ( remember, we can't change the load in the circuit ) then we are only consuming 17mAh of current! That is REDUCTION of about 10.5% in our energy needs. Of course, all bets are off if you try and lower your voltages below that needed for your circuit. In the opposite direction... Over clocking and over voltage will lead to worse battery life. It is the Law.

Myth 6: If my friend can run his phone at -100mv then I should be able to too!
Truth: Not all phones are created equal. The differences in the components used from run to run, or even in a single run, can be quite large. In some instances, there can be a tolerance of up to 10% in component variables. So, just because your friend can UV that much... You may find that you can't. Don't panic. There is nothing wrong with your phone. It is just different from your friends.

OK.... enough of the Olde Phartes ramblings here. I just thought I would pass on some factual information to calm some fears and misconceptions. I do hope that this helps you out some. If you have any questions... PLEASE let me know! I'll try and help.

See ya'

How to PROPERLY calibrate your battery

Hi folks.... The Olde Rabble here again with a bit of battery stuff.
So, you want to properly calibrate your battery huh? OK... we can show you how to do that. But I have a couple of things to say first. ( Come on... You KNEW that I would. )
You CANNOT calibrate a battery properly in an hour. Or in two hours. And you certainly CANNOT calibrate a battery properly in 30 seconds by wiping your battery stats file. It isn't going to happen. No how, no way. Flame on if you want... but I know the ACTUAL truth about it. It won't be correct.
Second.... No matter how well you calibrate your battery, after you flash a new Rom or kernel or ROM/kernel package, your calibration is no longer valid. Period. End of discussion. It ain't happening. Every ROM/kernel package is going to handle the information fed to it from the VR/Charging circuit differently.
Third.... This procedure requires that you have PATIENCE to do it right. If you don't have that patience, then don't waste your time. But.... STOP whining about how your supposed battery life is bad! What you are seeing on your battery meter is garbage and not worth looking at.
Now.... here are the steps to getting that meter and battery calibrated as a working unit... as close as we can get anyway when you figure out the actual accuracy of our meter system.

1.) You want to put your battery on the charger and let it charge. At this point, it won't matter if the phone is on or not. We just want to get it so the phone indicates a "full charge".

2.) When the LED turns GREEN then you need to POWER DOWN the phone. Let the phone sit for a couple of seconds.

3.) Unplug the phone from the charger and WAIT until the charging LED goes out. ( If you notice.. this takes about 2 to 3 seconds. That is how long it takes the phone to discharge energy to the point that the LED goes out. That is only at 3V! Now, think about how much longer it takes for it to get all the way to ZERO!?! NOW do you see why I say POWER DOWN when you FLASH?? )

4.) Plug the charger back in. It does NOT matter if it is the wall charger or USB or a car charger. The ONLY difference is going to be a little bit of speed when using the wall charger. ( More on this if you want the information )

5.) Wait until the LED turns GREEN. Now, unplug the charger. Wait for the LED to turn off.

6.) Plug the charger back in and wait until the LED turns GREEN. Unplug the charger. Wait for the LED to turn off.

7.) We are going to REPEAT 3 through 6 until it takes LESS THAN 10 seconds for the charge LED to change from orange to green.

8.) OK... it is going green really quick now. Unplug the charger and turn on your phone. THIS is where the patience part comes in. You want to run your phone WITHOUT CHARGING IT until it shuts itself off because of a low battery. Personally, I do this by turning up the screen FULL brightness, turning off the SLEEP mode, starting up MX Video Player and playing movies until I get down around 15% or so and then letting the phone discharge down until it shuts itself off.
( INFORMATION HERE!! You CANNOT "completely discharge" a Li-ion/polymer battery to "Zero" while it is in your phone. The circuits in the phone will not allow that to happen. It will shut down when the voltage gets to a point that it cannot support the phone. In our case we get down to about an actual 30% of rated battery capacity when out phones shut down. So don't worry and hurting your battery. Well, you COULD kill it. Run the phone until it shuts off and then LEAVE the phone like that for about 10 to 12 months. The internal resistance in the battery will drag it down to about Zero in that time. )

9.) Now then.... Plug in your charger and make sure that your phone is TURNED OFF. I would suggest that you pull your battery and put it back into the phone. That makes sure that the phone will be OFF when plugged in.

10.) WAIT until the LED turns GREEN. Now THAT took a LONG time didn't it??

11.) With the charger plugged in... Start your phone INTO RECOVERY! Clear ALL CACHES and THE BATTERY STATS NOW!

12.) POWER DOWN THE PHONE. I REPEAT... POWER DOWN THE PHONE Now... let your phone SIT doing NOTHING for ONE MINUTE! This step is REALLY important. Your phone CANNOT start to re-write the battery stats file properly when it reboots from Recovery. It is still LOOKING for the OLD battery stats and WILL NOT start to re-write it until it has tried and failed several times to find the old one.

13.) Start your phone up like normal with the charger UNPLUGGED. Let the phone boot and run it like you normally would until the phone shuts itself down for low battery. DO NOT RECHARGE WHILE YOU ARE DOING THIS STEP!! And, do NOT run it like a mad fool like you did to discharge it the first time. OPERATE IT LIKE YOU NORMALLY DO. ( oh yeah... please, please, please... ignore what your "meter" is telling you right now. It is really not feeling well. )

14.) When the phone dies from low battery, plug in the charger WITH THE PHONE OFF and let it FULLY CHARGE while POWERED DOWN!

15.) When the phone is fully charged... start it up!! Congratulations! You have been patient enough to actually calibrate your battery, ROM, kernel and battery "meter" to as close to accurate as they can be!!

( round of applause here ) YOU DID IT!!!

Come on... If you could read all the way through this post.... You can calibrate your battery properly!!
I sure hope that this helps. I am trying hard here to provide you folks with good, factual information on your batteries and how they act/react with your phones. I know that we all see so many stories about how someone can calibrate a battery with an app that wipes the battery stats file and makes everything good in the World. But let me tell you.... that just isn't the truth.
If you have any questions or you have any ideas on other information that you would like to see on your phone, batteries and such.... based on actual facts and research, then PLEASE drop me a PM and I'll get to work on it!

To SBC or Not to SBC... that is the question!

This is a re-post from a thread over on Tincandroid. I was asked to post it over here for more people to enjoy. I hope you like it.... It is going to be posted in a couple of parts here.

OotR

Hi Folks,

Yep... I am going to take on the SBC thing. But... I am NOT going to do it without some serious research first. I have talked to several Li-ion/polymer manufacturers and their engineers. Have some great information. I have been chatting with an HTC engineer about their VR/charging circuit and found out some VERY interesting information.
This coming week, I am going to open up my Evo 4G and run some tests on the VR/Charger as NO sbc and then run these tests again WITH sbc and see just what it is doing. I am going to repeat these tests for a couple of different sbc kernels and see if they change much. I especially want to graph the voltage/current flow INTO the battery and also put a 'scope on it and see how the digital switching goes over time. Should be some good times!
So, this is just a heads up that the research is underway and I hope to provide you some actual FACTS about sbc.... not guesses.
This is kind of the "First Installment" of my SBC thoughts. I have been running some tests this week and trying to determine SOC ( State of Charge ) in a battery and then calculating the voltage vs SOC discharge curve. This is basically what your battery stats file is doing on your phone. It takes the mV indication from the VR/Charger circuit and "translates" it into a quantity that can be listed on your "meter".
Basically, I have been running a recording volt/amp meter connected directly to the phone so that I can record the voltage and current being fed into the battery by the circuits being controlled by the SBC kernels. With this information in hand, I have been talking with an engineer that designs Li-io/polymer batteries and getting his feedback on the physical properties of the battery and how they could be effected by the quick charging rate and the continued charging rate applied by an "true trickle charge" SBC kernel. As a little aside.... the charging circuit in your phone ** IS ** a type of "SBC" charging circuit. I'll provide more about this later.
The physical properties of your phone battery are pretty much the same as any other kind of battery. It has an anode and a cathode and an electrolytic emulsion in between to carry the current through the battery. In the case of Li-ion/polymer batteries that electrolyte is a combination of Lithium salts and an organic media. The ability of the Li polymer to carry and hold a charge is what makes the battery good or bad. If it can't take the initial charge, hold it and pass it from electrode to electrode, then the battery will not be much good. Also, the ability for the battery to accept any kind of overcharge ( based on it's rated capacity ) and how LONG it can maintain that overcharge while delivering it's rated CURRENT capacity is how long our battery lasts.
One of the other physical properties of a battery that we need to look at is what kind and how many cells make up each battery. The batteries in our phones are "pouch" cells and contain several flat cells separated by membranes and connected in series to provide the required voltage and current to run our phones.
Now, this is where you will get SOME changes from battery to battery depending on the manufacturers, the materials that they use and how they are put together. And, not every battery is going to work exactly like any other battery. Just like our individual phones... they aren't all the same........ the batteries that we use are not all the same. Results for each battery will change. Also, battery manufacturers that have "cut corners" to make their batteries cheaper, lighter, etc., etc., can cause other problems such as movement of the polymer from one cell to another. One of the most dangerous failures is for the hard plastic case that protects the battery to become damaged. Lithium is a highly volatile salt and does NOT react well with moisture.
So what you say?!? How would we POSSIBLY get water in our phones unless we drop it in the toilet or something! Well... think about condensation... yep... good old condensation. If your phone is in you nice cool house, car or office and you pick it up and toss it in your pocket.... You just changed the physical environment a LOT and there will be condensation on the case. If that case has a microscopic leak in it, that moisture can get inside the battery. Now, if you apply a current to that battery ( like plugging it in to charge ) then the polymer can physically move in the battery to contact that moisture. When Lithium contacts water, it makes Lithium Hydroxide and Hydrogen gas. Add to that the spark of a change in current flow by your charger and BOOM. The Hydrogen gas ignites, igniting the Lithium and there is a really amazing show of flame and sparks! ( there was a thread on XDA a while back where I am pretty sure this was the cause. )
So be careful. If you drop your phone or your battery... especially your battery. Be safe and not sorry. The chances of something catastrophic happening might be small. But even that small chance could cause some major damages.

If you have any questions..... Please let me know. Next installment is kind of a Battery 101.

See ya'

Using Asus Transformer as a Phone

Curious .... My Lady is turning off her phone, an Evo 4G, because she hates the 100 bill every month. So I started looking into setting it up to use as a phone anywhere she has Wi-Fi and (which I figured was possible and is) and just realized I might be able to set my Asus Transformer up the same way. Anyone tried this or have it working? Comments? Suggestions?

Firefox Windows 7 issue, help?

So I am running the latest and greatest version of Firefox on my Windows 7 laptop.

One thing that bugs the shit out of me is that everytime I click on a link, whether it is in a email in gmail or on another site, is instead of it going straight to the site when I click on it, it is automatically blocked and I have to click "allow" each and every fucking time.

I remember sometime before on Firefox that in the banner that popped up that showed it was blocked, it had a drop down that would allow me to "allow it each time" if you get what I mean. But this time around, I don't have that.

How can I have it on Firefox, if at all possible, so that when I click on a link, it will just go to that fucking page each time instead of blocking each fucking time.

OMFG it pisses me off.

I would use Chrome more often, but that browser takes so fucking long to load it pisses me off.

Driving Me Crazy

I have over 250 apps so I REALLY need a launcher that allows me to organize the app drawer with folders.

The only launcher I have found to do this is go launcher.

On the Home screen I have a 2x1 widget that says apps. It is linked to smart shorcut (all apps)

But the smart shorcut opens a folder with all the apps contained in it.

I am trying to find a way to create the 2x1 widget that will open the go launcher app draw...

Any ideas?

Voicemail notification won't go away (ICS)

I have had this problem with voicemail notification that will not go away, it started way back when i had my evo running Vaelpak 2.1, Ive had all kinds of roms and android versions flashed on it. The only time Ive gotten it to go away is when I flashed a sence rom to update prl and profile, as soon as I come back to non-sence rom it always returns. Ive only every used the sprint VM app while on GB and was able to clear it with call settings, but since ive been using ICS roms that option is gone. Now I just rely on the text notifications for VM. I've looked for answers, tried everything I have came across, but sadly nothing has worked for me.

Ive tried calling from another phone leaving a message, listening to and deleting
airplane mode and rebooting, that one gets a small delay maybe 2 min b4 it returns
Installing a rooted stock 4.54 rom, running RUU, then updating to latest verison of stock, all that did was update the HBOOT from 2.16 to 2.18
Calling sprint and having them completely removing my voicemail, re adding VM to my account

I have to be missing something, that's why im asking.. ATM I'm on decks ICS p22 with mason ICS 0.14 sbc kernel

What's Vaelek been up to lately?

I'm sure everyone has noticed there hasn't been any real development activity since VPGB. For those wondering what's up, the main reason is I need to get a dedicated machine setup for it. I'm currently dual booting my laptop and have ended up stuck in Windows for various things a lot. Since moving to AOSP, for the most part I'm dead in the water without Linux. The other part is it just takes so damn long to build it from source, depending on what I'm working on, it can take hours between making a change and being able to test that change. I just can't have my only machine tied up all the time for that. So basically my options are continue to work very slowly until I can get another box setup, or go back to Non-Sense until then. I will likely open a poll on that very topic soon.

So, what have I been doing? A few months back, I stumbled on a project in progress to create the ultimate APK editor. I sought out the person working on it to try and get in on testing it, and would up joining the project. We've added a lot of really cool stuff since then, and are actually shooting for a release in the next week. I'm typically a pretty modest guy, but a month from now, this will without a question be THE tool for modding. What's so special about it you ask?

List of sites for development / directories / suggestions?

I'm attempting to compile a list of sites for the EVOs that meet one of the following

development is active on
support is active on
community is active on

With every ROM developer (loudly) pulling stakes from XDA and setting their own site up and google returning the XDA threads near the top, it can be pages to locate anything, and some places where development is active, the community and support are not (IE, it's a gas station, you get your product but don't help someone else with the pump).

Also, trying to find out which ROMs are straight up stolen from other people - not so much so I can mention them, but so I don't refer people to them.

My plan is to make a map of the EVO net circa May 2012.

Any help would be appreciated

Look up, ropodope, and carjacker, and vaelek, for example...
